The Sun has been generously giving the Earth its light for billions of years. It is capable of sustaining life, but also of destroying it; some creatures bask in the warmth of its rays whilst others get seared away into dust.
Even though it is comparatively close to our Earth and even though we’ve been observing it for thousands of years every day, our star remains largely understudied.
